Application Process & Interviews at 2degrees

9.3
9.3 rating for Recruitment, based on 6 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
I had an excellent recruitment process, that was both thorough and informative. The hiring process involved aptitude testing, behavioral testing, video screening and an assessment centre. The assessment centre was the most fun and engaging experience I had throughout any recruitment process. We had to engage in a group activity, an interview and a presentation on the day but the experience as a whole was very fun and the recruitment team made the day really engaging. It was the first assessment centre I did throughout the recruitment process for various programs where I didn't feel nervous and really enjoyed my time as a whole.

When I applied for 2degrees I was super nervous because I had never been to an assessment centre before, but I really enjoyed that day and even though I was with the people I was competing with, the day was so much fun, and I left it feeling happy with the impression I left on them.

Interviewer is a legend.

The interview process for graduates like me is a little different than the normal process. First we have the application, and then cognitive assessments, one way video interviews, and finally an assessment centre day with other candidates. It was a great experience for me, as it wasn't stressful in the slightest!

As a grad, I attended an assessment centre with 7 other graduates. This was a great experience and an awesome way to get to know the company a little but more before continuing with the recruitment journey.

Think for the most part it all makes sense

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
Behavioral based interview questions - so a lot of them were along the lines of 'tell me about a time when you dealt with conflict...' etc

Tell us about a time when someone wasn't a great communicator in a group setting and how you addressed that. As engineers we are constantly learning and making mistakes, what is an example of a project you were working on where you made a mistake and how did you fix it?

It's been over three years - I'm sorry I'm unable to.

The interviews we're behavioural based, so there were a lot of questions about past experiences, and with the idea that we would walk the interviewer what we did and why.

Pretty standard interview questions - culture fit, strengths and weaknesses, qualitative experience

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
We actually got sent a preparation document from the recruitment team to best prepare for the interview and assessment centre process. I think candidates should bring their best selves and be open minded. The graduate program really emphasises development of the individual first and seeking out what your interests are and how you can be a behavioural fit for the company more than anything. So be yourself! (also using the STAR method in interviews never hurts)

If you show your most authentic self then it does not matter how talkative or show off you are, you will be hired for the skills you demonstrate. I would recommend preparing by learning the 2degrees history and why they began in the telco market, what their purpose and values are.

Bring yourself.
Product Manager, Auckland - 24 Jun 2024
Be you! The interesting things about who you are will make you stand out from other candidates. Answer the interview question with STAR responses, and ask questions!
Graduate, Auckland - 24 Jun 2024
Be yourself! Don't shy away and ask questions, be bold and curious!

Have lots of examples of when you've showed up for others and yourself
