Graduate Digital Engineer at Arup Australia
Bachelor of Construction Management at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS)
7.50 AM
I catch the bus for work over the Harbour Bridge and past Opera House (Arup’s first project in Australia) – it’s a great way to start the day!
8.15 AM
I grab a desk, log in and answer any urgent emails. I then grab a coffee with a few colleagues. We get $2 coffees for using our red Arup mugs.
8.30 AM
Back to work, I jump into a few project meetings. I’m working on the modelling and design coordination for a high-profile highways project in Queensland. This keeps me busy for the rest of the morning.
12.30 PM
We have a lot of different lifestyle activities in the Sydney office, like running and yoga. Today I do a running session and then head down to our end-of-trip facilities to freshen up.
1.30 PM
I grab a quick feed with my team before I head back to my desk. Today we’re trying a new burger restaurant which recently opened. Once back, I check my afternoon emails see what needs to be done on different projects.
2.00 PM
I schedule in some focus time to prioritize my project work. It’s great to have the autonomy to choose what hours I dedicate to projects and the flexibility to schedule in personal activities also.
3.30 PM
I take a quick break to keep productivity high and head to the kitchen for a snack.
5.30 PM
Once I finish off a few project deliverables, I log off for the day. It’s Friday and some of us in the Sydney grad cohort have decided to have a game of Air Hockey to switch off and relax leading into the weekend.
