About Atlassian

Creating software that empowers everyone from small startups to the who’s who of tech is why Atlassian Australia is here. They build tools like Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Trello to help teams across the world become more nimble, creative, and aligned—collaboration is the heart of every product they dream of at Atlassian.

Your role

Atlassian is seeking new graduate Security Engineers to join their growing teams. They’re looking for engineers who love to innovate, are ambitious and driven, and are excited about the opportunity to work with smart people on complex challenges. They're looking for smart people to help them in four important areas:

  • Building and running new monitoring and analytics systems to detect compromises.
  • Writing automation to find and exploit vulnerabilities in their products and marketplace apps.
  • Researching and suggesting product features to harden their software against common vulnerabilities.
  • Architecting and securing hardware, networks, and corporate infrastructure.

More about their teams:

Security Intelligence
They want diverse skill sets and people, so they can all learn from each other and do interesting things. They don't just click the same buttons over and over. You will be working along with the product security team - a group dedicated to improving the security of their products and engineering practices. They work both independently and in collaboration with development teams as they assess and respond to security issues that might occur with new products and features.

Corporate Security
Atlassian is a focused group committed to protecting the security of its customers and their data. They value diverse thinking and creativity, so they can all learn from each other and do interesting things. You will be working with the whole security team to improve their cyber security posture.

Product Security
The Product Security team is responsible for making sure Atlassian products and services are safe. They e are looking for engineers who thrive on working with development teams to secure their products across the software development lifecycle. Some of their responsibilities include source code auditing, writing automation, running Atlassian's bug bounty, building defences directly into products, and finding ways to empower engineering teams to build secure products by default. Because they work directly on products and write most of their own tools, the ability to code is crucial.

Training & development

Atlassian's Graduate program is designed to provide new graduates with real-world experiences to help them achieve professional goals and personal dreams. In your first month, you’ll join your fellow grads for their Chapter One program - two weeks of grad-specific onboarding built just for you. You’ll have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with all of your peers, dive into training, and enjoy some “playing, as a team,” along the way. You’ll dive into solving problems that affect millions of their users (including your colleagues at Atlassian)—and this is just the beginning. Read more.

About you

On the first day, they'll expect you to have:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science / Software Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Great skills in writing clean, efficient code
  • Deep understanding of data structures, in particular how they are implemented and how to apply them to solve problems
  • Familiarity with the application of common design patterns
  • Real passion for collaborating with colleagues to build technical solutions to hard problems
  • Coursework in Cyber Security and other related Security fields
  • You view capture-the-flag competitions, crack-mes, and "unbreakable" products as challenges to your honor, hacking at them until they yield.

It’s great but not required if you have:

  • Have a real passion for Security Engineering or Security Intelligence, as demonstrated by previous internships, work experience, projects, or publications
  • If you already have a consistent track record in finding vulnerabilities, responsible disclosure or bug bounties that would be a great plus
