My role has gotten very broad since new projects have started and colleagues have left. Sometimes it feels too much but I enjoy being busy. I work largely in excel and am now considered a subject matter expert on spreadsheets, data structures and budget changes.

I am a governance graduate currently working in my second rotation in Local Board Services for 3-4 months. Our team operates within the local board area, and advises the local board members who were elected by the community to make decisions that significantly impact our local communities. My role currently is similar to that of local board advisor and involves a variety of tasks that differ daily, which I find very engaging. On any given day, I might attend workshops or business meetings, review reports, prepare advice and feedback for the local boards, attend team meetings, collate workshop notes, and complete assigned projects. I also consult with Local Board members regularly. The dynamic nature of the job ensures that no two days are the same, making my work both challenging and rewarding.

Currently in my role my responsibilities are attending meetings, improve customer problems/pain points and improving my skills. Since the council is constantly designing for the future, there is never ending growing with skills which a great thing to be about.

I have freshly entered the Council so my day-to-day activities have not been reflective of what they may be in 6 months. As a Graduate, it is widely accepted that the team cannot put too much on my plate from the outset and I feel that I am being eased into the space.

Well, I've only just started my second week of work, so I'm not completely involved in what I'll be doing in my position. The first week was a bit grueling, a lot of information to absorb in the first two induction days! (Though, very important information of course). The next three days were a bit rough in the sense that it was a lot of online module work that was a bit tedious to do. So, I wouldn't say I felt the most satisfied with my first few days, but that's just introductory processes! Second week has started great, being involved with my first meeting, which was really exciting. So far, my role is currently to learn the basics, and getting to know the team I'll be working with for the next ~3 months.

My day-to-day responsibilities vary depending on which team I rotate into working under. Currently, my day-to-day responsibilities are to interact with internal staff to find business improvements within the organisation. This extends out to the CCO's which are Auckland Transport and Watercare. My role is to identify weaknesses in business processes and quantify the extent of the weakness through process mapping to arrive at a conclusion for whether it is worthwhile implementation automation tools to improve the process.
