Salary at Auckland Council

8.2
8.2 rating for Salary, based on 25 reviews
What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
It is great that council has the annual pay review where most employees get a boost in order to keep up with inflation. Getting an out-of-cycle pay increase can be quite difficult but you need to advocate for yourself and prove that you deserve it.

Would have been quite satisfied if I was not living in such an expensive city. I would have been more happy if they had given me extra money for relocating (I did not ask for it).

I was very satisfied with my salary, even though it's the lowest among all of my classmates. Then I became dissatisfied once we started to get told that "your salary is median across your profession", which felt deceptive, knowing that nobody I know gets lower pay than we do. However, I like how clear the Tier band pay system is. And honestly for all the opportunities I am getting at work very well compensates my lower salary.

It's good that it's so transparent and it feels like AC is trying to make it as equitable as possible.

there are not any bonuses at the role but always pay every employee above minimum wage and there is always room for improvement and growth.

For my first role post-University, I am very happy with where I am starting and have been made aware of the potentially increases in my salary.

The entire pay regime at Auckland Council feels very fair and equitable. I am very happy with my starting wage as someone who doesn't have any experience in the field that I've been assigned to (other than theoretical knowledge on things learnt from university). This is my first time working a professional job, so I'm super happy with what I am getting.

Not able to negotiate for Graduate positions, but I am generally happy about it.

Working for a government organisation has the given downside of lower pay compared to private sector organisations. However, I am satisfied with my pay due to the constant development opportunities, flexibility, and amazing work culture across the organisation.

The pay for my role is quite fair. Council's gender and ethnic pay gap is significant however, and needs to be addressed for Maori and Pacific staff (particularly wahine).

A bit of money is better than no money.
Graduate, Auckland - 08 Jul 2024
No bonuses. Pay is at the minimum according to our union survey, but I do get an out of sequence pay rise.
Graduate, Auckland - 08 Jul 2024
Grad pay rather low but the job is done for learning rather than pay and is supposed to increase at the end of the programme.
