Council has been doing lots to protect the natural environment, e.g. Kauri Dieback initiatives, as well as reducing landfill waste through the food scrap bin roll out.

Food scraps in the building are used for in house worm farms and an increasing EV vehicle fleet.

Trying, but not the best at it I suppose. Switching to electric vehicle is one good move. But still quite a lot of wasteful spending.

Council continue's to prioritise sustainability and sustainable practices and I have seen it first hand. Through the work I do with Governance I can see that a lot of the and decision making processes continue to ensure that sustainability efforts are still being practiced.

I mean, we have biodegradable coffee cups and such in the cafeteria, so that's something. Council cars are EV, though there are some imperfections around how good EVs actually are... The council is quite heavily involved in the environment though, so it's hard to say that they're not reducing environmental impact at all. It's hard to comment on a 9000+ employee company and what each department within the council are doing... I'm in resource consents and have quite a lot of involvement in the environment, so sustainability is inevitable...but that's more to do with the work itself.

Have issued green bonds, a lot of efforts in the waste solutions space such as food scraps collection service, procuring from more sustainable companies, etc.

Auckland Council has countless sustainability efforts which will ultimately lead towards a better city for the future population to live in. One effort I have been very closely associated with is the recycling effort to ensure that all households are correctly recycling rubbish to ensure our landfills are not being overcrowded with material that should not be there.

We recycle like CRAZY! but like good Crazy.

Council uses worm farms and has a full electric vehicle fleet. The Council gives us plenty of tools to reduce our carbon footprint including access to E Bikes for work purposes or public transportation tickets. The Council also offers multiple offices around Auckland that allows for shorter commutes and less emissions.
