Auckland Council is extremely flexible with working hours and locations. Many people have families and other personal circumstances where they need to be home or leave early to pick their kids up from school. This helps with work/life balance. Personally, I prefer being in the office every day to keep a consistent routine.

Standard 40 hours a week. Not flexible in changing them but flexible in when they are completed throughout the day.

in terms of how you do your contracted hours the company is quite flexible, depending on your manager.
As a graduate I feel the pressure and also for my sake want to learn things faster so end up doing more than the contracted hours for the first few weeks due to the amount of getting my head around the systems and site to read etc

Team is very understanding and helps with any challenges that I face in the work. Flexibility is there when the reasoning is genuine. The communication is very important, and I find the team has a great communication between everyone. That makes it easy with the challenging task.

2 days a week in the office, 8 hours for each day. Very well.

The company is very flexible when it comes to work hours. I typically work from home 2-3 times a week and can always guarantee at least two days in the office, sometimes three. Since I find that I am more productive working from home, the Council accommodates this preference, especially within my team. I usually come into the office for meetings, business meetings, or workshops. Sometimes, I also go in for a change of scenery if there aren’t any meetings scheduled.
I generally prefer to start my day a bit later, doing some work from home in the morning before heading into the office to avoid the morning traffic and reduce time spent on public transport. This flexibility allows me to leave at a reasonable time, giving me enough time to travel home and still enjoy the rest of my afternoon. Overall, the Council’s flexible approach to work hours greatly enhances my productivity and work-life balance.

The council does hybrid work hours which means you are able to work from home some days in the week if you are wanting. I think this makes it a very flexible place to work and would be able to work from home if you struggle to get into work everyday.

Auckland Council seems really flexible with hours- as long as you are making up your 40 hours of work per week, there aren't really any questions asked! I have worked most days in the office and once from home, and there is always heaps of communication and guidance around what is expected of me.

40 hrs a week. Can work from home or in office. We should be meeting 40hrs a week, but if we have outside of life matters that need to be addressed. As long as we're getting the work done, flexibility within our hours to match our outside life needs seems to be accessible.

The flexibility is good with 2-3 days expectations. A balance of home focusing and office socialising.

AC or Policy department is very flexible when it comes to work hours. Majority of my colleagues are parents who often needs to leave early to pick their kids up from school. Our culture is based off of trust. Staff are trusted to get the work done, so if they need to leave early, they can, as long as their team leader is made aware. Staff can also make time up.

I work in office two days a week. Our department only requires us to come in one day, but I enjoy working in the office because I flat, and working in my bedroom can get old.
My department is extremely flexible, we are expected to work an AVERAGE of 40 hours a week, so they are happy with late starts/early finishes if you've had to work over time recently, and are great about taking time out to attend appointments or go on a walk if needed for your health.
