Student Surveyors/Spatial Roles (Nov 2023)

We are looking for Geospatial students to be based in the following locations: 

• Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland 
• Tauranga 
• Te Whanganui-a-Tara/ Wellington 
• Christchurch 

This role will sit in the Land & Water business unit.  

What is Geospatial in the Land & Water group at Aurecon? 

• Using Geospatial technologies including advanced reality capture tools such as 3d laser scanners, total stations, GNSS, drones and 12D, Autodesk suite, ESRI ArcGIS, FME and spatial digital tools to capture, manage, analyse, visualise, and share spatial information that drives projects design and construction 
• Geospatial combines practical site surveying with spatial data analysis, modelling, and 3D visualisation with involvement at all stages of a project 
• Working with an experienced team of professional geospatial consultants, licensed cadastral surveyors, and registered professional surveyors to deliver data and insights 

What are we looking for from you? 

Steps to success below! 

You'll be ready to make an impact. You will be studying towards a formal qualification and be in either your 2nd or 3rd year of study. You will need to have the ability to work on a full-time basis from November 2023 until February 2024. 

We'll need you to be studying towards degrees such as:  

• Bachelor of Surveying at the University of Otago 
• NZ Diploma of Survey at Unitec/Wintec/Toi Ohomai 
• Bachelor of Design at Victoria University of Wellington 
• Bachelor of Science majoring in GIS or Data Science 

You will have studied or are studying following subjects/papers, or areas of focus: 

• Land / Cadastral Surveying 
• Engineering surveying 
• GIS and spatial sciences  

And you will bring: 

• Passion for changing the way we deliver carbon neutrality and sustainability in everything we do. 
• Ability to initiate and build relationships with both your peers and clients to push forward the boundaries of what is possible. 
• Enthusiasm for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. 
• Excitement about your journey with Aurecon.

How to Apply 

Step 1: Application Form 

The first step off the application process is an online form which will take approximately 10 - 15 minutes to complete. Please be ready to attach you resume, cover letter and transcript. We will ask you to identify the teams you are most interested in, so please take time to explore our website as this will determine who you engage with through the recruitment process. 

Step 2: Online Assessment 

This step should take up to 1 hour to complete and requires a mix of written and video responses. Please make sure you are in a quiet, well-lit area with a strong internet connection before you start the assessment. During this stage we love to see your passions and motivations in your video responses. 

Step 3: Interview 

If you are selected to progress to the final stage you will be invited for an interview in person or virtually, depending on locations. After the interview process has concluded offers to the successful candidates will be made and contracts issued.
