Application Process & Interviews at Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)

Online application, psychometric testing, phone interview, assessment centre and panel interview, in that order.

The graduate application process includes application, online assessments, video interview and assessment centre.

Fair process. I don't think the employer focuses just on intelligence, but a mix of team work abilities, and your behaviour or attitude to work and others. Interview allowed me to speak to my strong points.

The interview process was rigorous but fair. It included certain elements that I did not encounter in other hiring processes.

Similar to most graduate application processes - the interview and assessment was challenging

Graduates undergo a fairly rigorous assessment process in order to be accepted into the graduate program. This included an initial written application, cognitive and psychometric testing, a video interview, and face-to-face assessment centre.

The grad hiring process was quite standard and quite similar to other grad programs. ASIC had an application, psychometric tests, a video interview and an assessment centre. During the assessment centre we had a group presentation, an individual writing test and an individual interview.

The video interview was mainly for applicants to give more information about themselves but the final interview had a lot of behavioural questions.

Background questions about the organisation along with behavioural questions

Various. Including questions about past leadership experience, knowledge about the employer.

Standard job interview questions, plus "tell me a time when you selected an appropriate technology for the task at hand".

There was a strong focus on what I knew about the organisation and why I was interested in working here.

Mainly behavioural questions

Know why you want to work here. The work ASIC does is specific.

Prepare examples/scenarios for common behavioural questions that they may ask during the interview. Do your research on ASIC, and know what's been going on recently in the news.

Do your research on the employer. Know what they do, and what they stand for.

Prepare for behavioural questions along with the function and purpose of the organisation, and where it could go in the future

Know the company values and what they do

Make sure you are updated with the news not only just about ASIC but also about finance in general. This shows your interest in the organisation. Don't be afraid to show your genuine personality and enthusiasm for the job, this will help you stand out from the crowd.

Find out as much as you can about the varied work of the organisation.

Emphasise life experiences outsides of university. Everyone else applying has good grades, you need a differentiating factor.
