A Career in Business Services

We’re looking for enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Accountant to join our Business Services (Accounting) Graduate Program in January 2024!

Our Business Services team work closely with clients of all types and sizes, in every sector. By understanding each client’s unique business, family, and wealth needs, our team provide a range of personalised accounting, tax and compliance, and advisory services – business valuations, due diligence, family business and succession planning just to name a few! From helping a client grow their business, minimise their tax liability or plan for the future, our Business Services team are there to help clients achieve their goals!

As a Graduate Accountant, you will have the opportunity to work with your team and clients, to undertake a wide range of financial accounting and compliance tasks, growing your skills and knowledge in all areas of income tax, GST, FBT, stamp duty, payroll, and indirect taxes.

Checking emails, liaising with clients to receive information on their R&D activities, writing/drafting activities according to AusIndustry guidelines/ITAA legislation. Calculating financial incentives and meeting with clients.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
