As a Colombian engineer woman, I’ve observed positive changes in our company’s approach to diversity. BMD is making strides in increasing gender diversity, with more women engineers being hired recently. Although the construction industry is traditionally masculine, the company is improving, with newer female engineers having joined within the past 4 to 5 years. This reflects a growing commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Committed to improving diversity in the company, but a long way to go to be more inclusive of all communities. Retention and promotion are not the best but child care and maternity leave are being encouraged and steps are being taken to improve these packages and incentives to allow more women to continue working to suit their needs.

Anyone can be hired however it doesnt seem like the company puts much into retention.
no big representation for those with asian backgrounds.

I believe the company provides equal opportunities to all people and acknowledges everyone and assists them with whatever they need.

The company has over committed to increasing the number of women within the business. We're moving away from equal opportunity and moving towards selective bias. There are less women, ethnic minorities, and LGBTIQA+ people applying for roles within the construction industry, and this should be reflected in the diversity of our employees - that's what equal opportunity looks like.
Our recruitment seems good, our retention is good generally speaking but not so good in some areas, promotions are slow. Child care, maternity etc. I have no comment.

Great initiatives for women empowerment, especially in a male-driven industry. BMD values diversity, and this can be seen throughout its programs in the past years.

We all know that civil industry is heavily dominated by male, but BMD has provided many opportunities to women in civil. Such as having a monthly woman meeting to discuss any issue regarding women in civil that has happened or might happen.

They are very nice and amazing because they try to interact with you, so they know you better.

We have a lot of different kinds of people with all sorted of background working at BMD. From what I have seen, there is no current issues I am aware of in SA in regard to diversity. We have more female graduates than male graduates right now, and roughly equal men to women undergrads in SA
