No training, little support. any training iâve seen is not relevant to the role
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Dec 2024
Plenty of opportunities to learn. there is time allocated weekly and you can potentially get involved in extra activities.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Nov 2024
On the job training is where most training will come from. there are company-wide modules/training that is mandatory relating to processes and behavior. as a finance graduate, completion of cpa or ca is required.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Oct 2024
Slowly progressing with networking, but have not picked up any unusual skillsets
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Oct 2024
The formal training from coles was detailed and kept me well informed, in particular how to navigate the new corporate environment. there was also numerous graduate training workshops held to develop soft skills.
however, as the engineering and manufacturing graduate program is the first of its kind, the formal training in that field is not as developed compared to other functions, thus i have to take more responsibility for my career development. despite this, coles has provided great support in ensuring the opportunities i ask for are available to me.

On the job training good, graduate specific masterclasses were a bit wishy washy and not the most helpful personally

Mainly learn on the job, some rotations have notes to follow but some doesn't

Many opportunities for training, grad program provides masterclasses throughout the graduate program to learn and develop. lots of soft skill training about transitioning, as well as commercial workshops. on the job training is provided exclusive to your role, but opportunities to learn from your wider teams such as shadow days, etc.

Learning modules which are self guided and on the job training provided by team

We have a learning hub where mandatory and non-mandatory training is available, and access to pluralsight for skilling up.
Graduate, Melbourne - 13 Sep 2024
This is probably where i have been particularly disappointed as a grad. training varies a lot from team to team and i've had mixed experiences. pluralsight has been rolled out which is great but for me personally it isn't effective due to a mix of how i naturally learn and where my skills currently sit. i think a stronger emphasis on training before taking on responsibility is warranted, like almost every employer.

There were graduate masterclasses but there's also programs outside of the grad program available to the whole business, like women in tech and guilds. these provide networking and learning opportunities. a major benefit of coles is the innovation program. its a great opportunity to work with fellow graduates and engage people around the business. and there's presentation skill workshops which are so important for public speaking.
Graduate, Melbourne - 13 Sep 2024
Shadowing session with skilled employees, online learning modules, mentoring
Graduate, Melbourne - 13 Sep 2024
When i was in my tax rotation, coles made sure i had the skills necessary to do my job. this included paying for a training session that cost more than $1000. as a finance grad, it is also a requirement that we attain our ca or cpa accreditation. this is also paid for by coles. coles also has the cfo academy that assists employees to improve their skillset.
Graduate, Melbourne - 13 Sep 2024
Excel courses and power point presentations, different ways of communications and negotiations.
Graduate, Melbourne - 13 Sep 2024
Definitely could be improved. there is a lack of clarity for how things are done in the business, and there are rarely actual guides. rather, you need to know someone who knows someone or someone who knows how to do something you need help with.
Graduate, Melbourne - 29 Aug 2024
Had induction and frequent trainings for graduates. some are helpful while others are not. could have more organized on the job training with systems, etc.
Graduate, Melbourne - 29 Aug 2024
There is a very clear induction schedule when you start at the company that really sets you up for success.
