Do work that matters
- You’ll be at the forefront of innovation at one of Australia’s largest Banks. You’ll use data to build and enhance quantitative and predictive models to support insights or use our leading technology to extract incredible data and influence the direction of the business
- Throughout the program, you’ll enhance your technical capability through the use of analytical tools such as R, SQL, SAS and Teradata, alongside vast datasets to develop and deliver actionable insights

Retail Banking Services – Analytics (Sydney)
You’ll get exposure to everything from Insights Analytics, Exception Reporting & Controls and Reporting & Visualisation to Customer Communications.
Looking ahead, once you complete the Summer Internship, if you stay on as a Graduate, you could continue your CommBank career in one of our diverse analytical functions. Roles could include Data Analyst, Modelling Analyst, Risk Analyst, Associate Data Scientist or Pricing Analyst.
Technology – Data Science (Sydney & Melbourne)
You can gain exposure to Decision and Behavioural Science, Quantitative & Predictive Modelling, Artificial Intelligence (AI) & machine learning (ML), Data Engineering, and more.
We’re the frontline in the AI revolution meaning you’ll lead the way and support in driving innovative, data-led solutions and approaches.
After the program, you could receive an offer to join our Graduate Program and start building your career as a Data Scientist, Insights Analyst or Data Engineer.

Client meetings, speaking with the frontline team regarding client files, administrative work
It will vary depending upon what department/business unit you are in. However in my circumstance I am an Graduate/Analyst; my daily task involve morning emails, attending to applications and strategy papers, lots of meetings, some longer one rife with information or short ones to provide updates. Then after a lunch with the team it is back into credit writing. Then finishing off the day with emails. There is always time for a coffee run with the team and some good quality banter.
My role involves balancing business and customer needs in innovative and strategic ways. Day to day, I work on projects that involve uplifting certain aspects of the CBA App. I also work towards my graduate development goals to ensure I make the most out of this experience.

The over-importance of networking. You may not get as far as being 100% your authentic self.
With CBA being such a large organization, it can sometimes be difficult to navigate the ecosystem and find the right person who can help.
