Diversity at Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC)

8.6
8.6 rating for Diversity, based on 73 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
I feel like CSC is rather diverse and wouldn't discriminate based on any of these protected attributes.
Midlevel, Canberra - 30 Nov 2022
I believe one of the more generous approaches towards inclusivity, including recruitment, promotion, child care and leave. However, as I only fit into a few of these categories, my experience is likely very different from other employees, especially those belonging to ethnic minorities who may be facing microaggressions daily in addition to other forms of discrimination that don't effect me. I have experienced and heard from others that they have similarly experienced some microaggressions for being women from male staff. The business and management have been very receptive to feedback when this has occurred.

It seems to be a diverse company to me. The company has ethnic diversity, although it could be greater, and it has a strong program for women in leadership. I have not seen any examples in the workplace of any discrimination.

During my time at CSC, I had noticed that there was a diverse group of races and genders. Everyone was treated with a high level of respect, professionalism and courtesy. During school holidays, I would often see children accompanying their parent/s around the office.

The technology industry as a whole struggles with the recruitment and retention of females in the workforce. Our company has a strong focus on improving gender diversity with the introduction of the Women in Leadership Program.

Very diverse culture. There are a number of women in senior leadership positions and many woman in the organisation as a whole. CSC are highly active in programs such as Women in Leadership and the Young professionals resource group.

CSC is very committed to diversity - there are many women within our office that are in top management positions, which is great to see. I don't believe that any difference is made at all between different people in terms of diversity.

No problems in this area
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Dec 2015
In my experience women and the LGBT community are very well represented across the Australian Public Service, although this does depend on the subject matter of each area.

The Department offers generous parental leave, identifies certain positions for particular groups (e.g. Indigenous cadetships and traineeships) and employs a full time diversity team.

The candidate is selected on qualities/skills they can offer, not their background. We hire from every background, it just comes down to who is best suited for the role.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Dec 2015
The hiring process is purely based on merit and experience, thus everyone is treated equally and there's no difference made between applicants.

The department has a cadetship program aimed at developing students, but I don't think we have anything specifically targeting less-privileged backgrounds.
