Formal training can be lacking, however informal on the job training is great

The training that's provided to graduates is good - it includes both external and internal training that's very valuable

The formal training has been mixed. The face to face training has been good, but the online training has been ordinary. The on the job learning has been good, and it has allowed me to learn managerial skills, as well as general business analysis.

Training programs are good, but being a part of SAP, I do appreciate if there are certain SAP specific trainings or skills development program.

CSC offers various training programs that are tailor to individual needs and interests. I have completed several training courses including Foundation of Business Analysis , Salesforce Administration and 7-Habits of Effective Person.

Lack of formal training specific to business unit/area

I have picked up a lot of soft skills. But I will mention only one here. The most important skill I have learned is to read and understand the people I work with and flex and adapt to the environment.

The training that was made available to me at CSC was definitely one of the biggest strengths of the organisation. The online training resources covered a wide range of areas that were not only relevant to CSC but to the workforce in general. There were many certification courses that were accessible by any employee. Although the formal resources were good, it was the informal training that I valued the most. I was always given advice from my supervisors about how I should approach certain tasks and was taught tips and tricks that I could use throughout my professional career. The informal training was extremely well done.

While in the graduate program we are given the opportunity to rotate to different business areas. This has given us the opportunity to really increase skills and knowledge. We also have weekly graduate training programs that are facilitated by HR. These are really beneficial in developing everyday professional skills.

CSC provides a diverse range of training programmes including effective personal/business skills, certification via CSC university, CSC specific offerings via sales leads.

CSC has a strong focus in developing interns and graduates. You have access to internationally recognised certification training and advice is provided on what you need to do to achieve your career goals.

We have access to an internal online university where we can take courses on different topics/areas of choice. We also have informal training sessions with HR where we learn about business skills and how to be effective in the workplace which are aimed to set us up for success.

The training that we have been getting during our grad program has been good. This has been for different areas and skills and there's always some new training every month.

There is a lack in formal training

Some of the more advanced legislative training has been good. It would be better if people were assessed for their existing capabilities and knowledge, rather than having everyone do the same training.

The Department offers internal and external training and study assistance. I have gained a wide range of skills, including in people, management, writing, policy and project management.

The graduate program I was involved with provides a LOT of training. Which in some ways is great. However, there is a lot of one day corporate training courses which can be of mixed value. Often it is more valuable in terms of learning to work another day of your job.

I have completed a lot of training as part of my Grad program, mainly focusing on generic skills - writing for government, project management, presentation skills etc. I have found limited use to these broad-based training sessions and found more specialised external training to be more useful. There are regular opportunities to attend Whole-of-Government training programs and I understand the support for further tertiary study is a real bonus should you wish to go back to uni!
