I've had 3 internships in different parts of the business and moved into a graduate role.

It's quite early to tell but from networking with other people within the business, there's a large majority of people who have moved through multiple roles within the business.

Make sure to show your capabilities, but most importantly talk to your direct report manager about promotion or how to get there.
Graduate, Wairakei - 30 Jul 2024
Graduate to intermediate engineer in 2 years is expected. Possibly 3 years after that go to engineer. They like you to step up as it means you can take on greater responsibility and work. Small pay rises as graduate, and initially linked to whole graduate cohort.
Graduate, Clyde - 26 Jul 2024
I'm quite satisfied with promotion opportunities. I've actually applied for another job within the company and have gotten it which I'll start after my program ends in a couple of months. I've also noticed that a lot of my colleagues have worked their way up to their current positions so I believe career growth is good here. My only concern is they're not very transparent when it comes to pay and roles - for example it's very difficult to understand when you go from a "junior" to an "intermediate" pay band and what those pay bands are.
Graduate, Wellington - 24 Jul 2024
Promotion opportunities are present, but would typically require moving between different areas in the company. There appears to be support to do this.
Graduate, Wellington - 23 Jul 2024
For a graduate engineer, there is a development guideline book to fill in and check off.
Graduate, Clyde - 13 Mar 2023
Performance dependent.
Graduate, Wellington - 09 Mar 2023
There are lots of opportunities for development in the company and you are well supported to move through an engineer progression framework. It mostly important to learn through getting involved in work, asking lots of questions and delivering quality work but it is also important to take time for self-development and record keeping of work completed. There are also opportunities to move to different positions across the company if that suits a particular person.
Graduate, Taupō - 09 Mar 2023
There is a progression framework in place to allow engineers to move up from graduate>intermediate>engineer>senior>principal
Graduate, Taupō - 03 Mar 2023
Great promotion and development opportunities to those who own their work and take initiative in their development. Takes a willingness to learn and develop + a good attitude.
