As part of our mahi to become New Zealand’s most sought-after workplace, we realized our parental leave policy had not kept pace. So we’ve made some changes that we think will put our new Growing Your Whānau Policy up there with the best in New Zealand.
The Growing Your Whānau Policy is gender inclusive as we recognize that not everyone’s situation is the same, and the Primary Carer won’t always be the Mum. To be a truly inclusive workplace for those growing a family, our benefits need to support equality. We also recognize that women are often the Primary Carer so it’s our hope that this new policy minimises the impacts and challenges Primary Carers face and will, in turn, support our focus on building more diversity across our business.
We’ve made a commitment to support parents on their journey – before, during and after parental leave. This will ensure our people don’t get left behind in their careers while caring for the next generation. But more than that, those first months are so important, babies grow so quickly and we want our people to be there for all the precious milestones, without having to worry about financial pressures.
