Our purpose

At Datacom, we believe our purpose is to help our customers and communities navigate the complexity of this ever-changing world we live in, by connecting people and technology, and solving their greatest challenges. With more than 50 years of experience in technology, we have grown to be one of Australasia's leading locally-owned technology companies.

About the role

As a driven designer, you will be ready to develop your existing skills and work with our senior designers on a range of ambitious projects to produce impactful designs that capture and promote our purpose and vision. You will be responsible for driving the creative direction of digital campaigns as well as leveraging your sound understanding of typography, layout, animation and design trends.

You should be familiar with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, XD and other graphic design and UI/UX applications. The ability to follow brand guidelines, juggle a number of jobs for various stakeholders throughout the business, and adapt to changing workloads will come easily to you. From receiving a brief and understanding all project requirements, through to concept design and presentation, you will be able to effectively communicate your ideas and integrate feedback with ease.

Our designers work as part of a small marketing team so there will be an opportunity to help create as well as work within existing guidelines. There is huge scope to be involved in a range of projects from external client-facing digital campaigns to events and brand projects.

What you'll bring

We're looking for an energised designer to grow and develop in this role. This is a great opportunity for a grad or junior who is keen to work within the tech sector. You'll be a self-starter with a sharp eye for detail, be able to manage deadlines and work as part of a collaborative team. Our environment is fast-paced and ever-changing so it's key to be adaptable, organised and quick on your feet!

Ideally, you'll have the following:

  • Bachelor of design or a related field
  • Well-rounded design skill set that can contribute to projects across print and digital

My day to day work consists of front end software development and participating in sprint ceremonies such as retros, planning, refinements, and standups. I collaborate with the other developers on my team, and work back and forth with testers to fix bugs and ensure our work is up to standard.
