Our Purpose

Datacom’s PAYE Intermediary Service (PI) looks after all customers of Datacom PaySystems.. Each month this integral part of our operation is responsible for tens of thousands of employers’ payday files processed to IRD and tax payments that are accurately reconciled and paid on time. That makes us the one of the largest employer payroll tax reporting operations with the IRD in the country.

The role

The Graduate Developer role involves undertaking activities of a limited scope under close supervision within a Technical Job Family (e.g. IT, Research and Development, Engineering, Customer Support, Technical Support).

This role involves assisting with development and testing on a web application that acts as an intermediary which handles communication between two sources.

The Graduate Developer is responsible for:

• Developing code in a clear, maintainable way with a focus on ease of use & performance
• Documenting the development done, including test performed and writing unit tests
• Investigating and troubleshooting issues in applications
• Utilising a variety of standard methodologies and techniques in solving basic technical problems.
• Undergoing formal training and development to develop skills as a developer and to understand the products and services of the business.
• Contributing to team projects, focusing on assigned tasks.

You'll have:

• Research skills acquired at university
• Ability to analyse and solve problems creatively.
• Ability to work to deadlines under supervision
• Strong communication and organisation skills.
• Excitement to develop technical skills.
• Good understanding of programming concepts such as OOP, SOLID, SQL, Git.
• Understanding/exposure to C#, .NET MVC, Unit and Integration testing, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SOAP, and database management (these are desired but it's ok if you're not across all of them).
