Training & Personal Development at Deloitte New Zealand

We have around 3-4 hours of training per week, and have an array of material to use outside of this if needed. I especially value the fact that our peers provide the trainings, which allows for a ton of questions to take place!

Some of the training doesn't seem relevant to myself or is over my head but other parts are really relevant and useful

I think they have a great induction process, but not as much on the job training and things tend to get misses.

Using sql, prophet, excel and word

I feel like most of it has been on the job training, but feels like you get thrown in the deep end quite quick with having to produce work to a high standard - means that I have learnt a lot though in a short amount of time

Core consulting skills covers all basic skills too many to list

Tax skills is quite relevant to what I am doing

Training/graduate camp was really good. I learnt alot about my work style, leadership style and my peers and the company. We then had e-learnings to help with foundation skills which we can always do additional optional learnings in areas that interest us. Tax skills, really good and there was a lot of guidance provided for that. Newsletters to update us on changes internally and externally.

Formal required training that was useful but stressful due to assessments.

Comprehensive training in the important software and skills

Training can be quite stressful as quizzes and graded exams are involved.

There are a lot of opportunities to attend a number of formal trainings that are lead by upper management that cover topics that we are interested in.

A whole range of internal and external programmes available. However, this is often deprioritised due to client or time commitments.

Deloitte has their own internal tax skills program which earns credits towards ca. Additionally there are monthly tax update meetings where tax changes are discussed.

Cant say as I haven't had any official training done yet

As I work in a small team it can be hard for seniors/ managers to find time to help me or to train me properly. I often find myself being given tasks that I have not been trained to do. I have made good progress though- if you can figure things out yourself and like problem solving then you will be fine. Our firm pays for ca study, law profs etc so if you're thinking about that you're in a good place!

Trainings are good, but it's the on the job learning that is very valuable.

Every month, there is a company wide training session for junior staff to learn different things. These are informal sessions that allow people to come together to learn different topics. However, there are also more formal training programmes (e.G. Seminars/certification) - these can be provided if people want to learn more. As long as you take the initiative and provide a case for it, management are more than happy to provide this opportunity.

So many trainings: I've learn te reo, automation, design, communication... The list is endless
