A lot of my work is research tasks - particularly getting into the more finnicky questions that might not be so obvious off the bat. These usually turn into memos for senior lawyers. I've been able to sort of follow along matters as they progress and stay involved. In matters with lower stakes, I've been given a bit more responsibility around drafting letters/emails and being involved in strategic discussions moving forward. Given we get to do a rotation at DC for our first year the responsibilities on the whole are quite light, but we still get good opportunities to get stuck into substantive work.
