Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
Currently doing 6 weeks of bootcamp training which gets all new hires up to date with the company's policy, basic knowledge of finance and investment, SQL and C#, company-specific software, and documenting tests
Graduate, Auckland - 13 Sep 2024
Lots of group training and good support from devs and trainer. Lots of technical skills and familiarized myself with SQL and C#. Honed communication skills

Training program was really helpful! We had 6 weeks of full time training before commencing actual work, which really prepared us in the good position when starting actual work.

Great training program, lots of support. Provides more/better training than most companies.

The graduate program which I am currently working on has been very good so far. The firs 6 weeks consisted of more direct training which was handled in a mix of videos to watch as well as hands on work in the testing and developing environments. Then you spend a period of time working in each area where you can learn more directly about the process with many people you can ask for help and support along the way

The training bootcamp was extremely useful and helped develop my skills to work for FNZ. On the job training lacked however, as teams are too busy focusing on delivering and do not have time to retrain/go through training sessions.

In my opinion, the graduate training (both technical and cappfinity) has been really good.

The formal training gave a good foundation for the relevant skills and knowledge we would need for the job but it is difficult to cover everything, especially to the degree in which it is required. Most of the learning ended up being on the job but everyone is so helpful and generous with their time that it was easy to get sorted.

Kind of basic training. Some of them are quite useful during work but that is not enough to handle everything.

The graduate program was well run and continues to improve as feedback is taken on board. Good access to self directed lessons through Workday.
Graduate, Wellington - 15 Aug 2024
Test design and Jira and basic finance.
Graduate, Auckland - 29 Oct 2023
Internal academy that has really developed over the past year. So while it wasn't the best when I started it has grown from that and will be very effective now
Graduate, Wellington - 25 Oct 2023
Slight misalignment of expectations among trainers, but the program is structured really well.

Fnz's academy is a great place to learn and gain knowledge. Skills picked: - a lot of information about finance/investment/banking - software testing - SQL

It's got a lot better since I started. At first it was very 'learn on the go', which worked okay but there were a lot of gaps in my knowledge as a result. However now they've got a more formal training program that seems a lot more thorough, and also it's very easy to get help from other people in the office for things we didn't receive training on. I've gone from never using SQL to being very confident in my skills using it. I also had next to no dev experience before starting and now I'm fairly confident fixing defects

There is some very good training. In fact, most of it is really good. There have been a few trainings, however, that have been under supported.

Not enough training available within projects. Makes it difficult to get started even with people around to ask.

The grad program is new and super helpful and the training is improving all the time. By the time you start it'll be great :)

Formal training has been a bit of a work in progress, given recent reforms to the grad program. Not sure I can say anything of value on that without knowing what's planned for upcoming cohorts. In terms of informal training, excellent, you've got some great support networks coming into the job and by coming in as a cohort all at once, grads can provide each other a lot of support.

It has been almost entirely "on the job" training. If there was a structured course with dedicated teachers you could easily learn everything I have learnt within a couple of months.
