Account Executive at Gallagher
Dual Bachelors Degree of Business Management & Economics at The University of Queensland (UQ)
6.00 AM
My typical morning starts quite early. I go for my run, try to meet my protein goals with a concerning amount of scrambled eggs, and drink an unhealthy amount of coffee. I believe it’s the best way to start the day and by 7:40 am I am ready and leave for work.
8.30 AM
After experiencing the best of Brisbane’s transport, I arrive to work around 8:30 and the first thing I do is check my emails and follow up on any small tasks from the previous day. I will also save and file anything from the previous day as you don’t want that to build up.
9.30 AM
By this time, my craving for yet another coffee has well in truly kicked in. A small group of us will visit the coffee shop next door.
12.30 PM
Up until lunch time, this is where we would have any team meetings, discussions about client queries and day to day tasks. Since every day is different this will vary, however any internal meetings will typically happen before lunch. It’s a great time to complete tasks and collaborate on issues that may be roadblocks in your work or progression on a task.
1.30 PM
During lunch I typically spend my time either at the gym or smashing down a good zambrerors chicken bowl with the inclusion of garlic sauce of course. This is a great time to go for a walk and get some vitamin D.
4.00 PM
After Lunch until around 4 is a great time to get your head down and finish some of the longer pieces of work. Whether it’s report writing, creating the longest barrelled function on excel or working on a client presentation, I find this time the best to challenge myself.
5.00 PM
From 4-5 I will either continue my post grind lunch or prioritise any tasks left that need to be finished before close of business. Now, I don’t try and boil the ocean, but by keeping a list of tasks and checking them off as you go, it is a great way to know by the end of day what still needs to be finished and what has been completed.
5-10 PM
After work depending on the day I might wind down by having a nice Mojito with fellow colleagues, however if it’s during the week I will catch up with family, go to the local trivia (I never win) or re watch season 2 of the office religiously. It’s important to wind down and relax during the night so you can re-energise yourself for the week.
