We are looking for an up-and-coming engineer who is passionate about working in the local government transportation area to provide safe and trusted infrastructure for our community.

The role would suit someone who is part way through their studies or has recently completed their studies and is keen to put the theory into practice making a real difference to all the users of the transport network.

In this unique opportunity you will complete 9 -12-month placements within various teams of the transport activity at Hamilton City Council. You’ll develop your knowledge and skills in some of the following disciplines:

  • Safety
  • Development
  • Asset Management
  • Network Management
  • Maintenance and renewals programme delivery
  • Project management

Our successful candidate will have:

  • Certificate in (or studying towards) a National Diploma in Civil Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering Technology.
  • Awareness of traffic engineering principles, transport law, NZS 3901 and relevant statutes and regulations.
  • Excellent numeracy and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Collaborative working style and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage workload

  • Constantly changing environment and some of the people I have met.

  • Extremely supportive environment Fun work place culture Friendly staff.

  • Good people and support from the organization

  • Probably the health insurance; I haven't had to use it yet, but it's nice to know it's there if I need it.
