Your role

In Australia, the 12-month Accelerate program is split into three blocks; providing graduates 3 x four-month blocks of hands-on work experience in different focus areas of Operational, Technical, Business and Projects.

This will be based in one of the three business units; Humes, Aggregates or Concrete, with locations in NSW, QLD, VIC, WA or SA.

  • Aggregates Business Unit
    • Holcim Aggregates Business is one of the largest integrated suppliers and manufacturers of building materials and solutions in Australia. Aggregates operate hard rock, sand and gravel quarries. These quarry materials are used as key ingredients in the manufacture of products like concrete and asphalt, which are essential construction materials. They help build homes, schools, hospitals, factories, water or sewerage systems, railways and roads.
    • The Aggregates business unit is focused on quarrying and within your rotations you will gain insight into the operational, technical, business and project aspects of the business. You will gain onsite experience understanding crushing and screening, drill & blast activity and all load and haul operations.
  • Concrete Business Unit
    • The Holcim Concrete Business unit has an unrivalled history of product development, reliability, and technical expertise across its product range. Our products are specifically designed for a wide range of applications whether it is for standard, high-performance, decorative or special applications. At Holcim, we are committed to helping their customers reduce the footprint of their buildings and infrastructure to build better and more with less with the introduction of our ECOPACT - Low Carbon Concrete. It's the only way they can build progress for people and the planet together.
    • The Concrete business unit is focused on production and within your rotations you will gain insight into the operational, technical, business and project aspects of the business. You will gain onsite experience understanding customer excellence in concrete, concrete batching processes, and identifying improvement in quality in concrete and all associated processes.
  • Humes Business Unit
    • The Humes Business is Australia's leading manufacturer of steel-reinforced concrete pipes, culverts and a wide range of quality engineered precast concrete and environmental products. Humes operates across a broad range of industries with three distinct product portfolios applicable to the Australian construction industry, Pipeline Systems, Water Solutions, and Engineered Structures.
    • The Humes business unit is focused on civil precast concrete manufacturing and within your rotations you will gain insight into the operational, technical, business and project aspects of the business. You will gain onsite experience understanding relationship management, effective use of transport, forecasting, manufacturing process and production planning, and asset lifecycle management.

My role is to coordinate and look after our current projects for Vic aggregates, and ensure that the customer has clear lines of communication. Day to day responsibilities are to visit sites where deliveries are critical and ensure they get the service required to ensure the job rolls smoothly.
