Overall, I feel satisfied with my day-to-day responsibilities. However, the work can be very repetitive, and sometimes not appropriate for my level of experience (i.e. very basic administrative tasks that would be more suited for a student, or on the other end, tasks that are too complex and large for a graduate).

My day-to-day responsibilities included flora and fauna monitoring, water sampling, data entry/ collation, report writing and more depending on the priority tasks of the day. Most days include a mixture of office tasks and field work which I enjoyed.

My role at IGO was dynamic and engaging, requiring me to take on various daily responsibilities. From collaborating with different teams on projects to contributing to the day-to-day operations, my tasks spanned across various IT areas, providing me with a holistic understanding of the organisation's IT operation. As an intern, I had the opportunity to rotate through teams, including Service Desk, Cybersecurity, Mine Site IT Technician, Infrastructure, and Data Analysis. This rotation allowed me to contribute to diverse projects and provided a comprehensive view of the company's operations and the technologies employed. Overall, my day-to-day responsibilities were rewarding, contributing significantly to my professional development.

Pros and cons of working at IGO Limited

Pros

  • The people. I love that I am given the opportunity to independently contribute to large scale projects and am supported to explore different avenues and provide meaningful input without being micromanaged.

  • Even though I'm still an intern, the team respect my ideas and work as much as everyone else which has made me feel really welcome and comfortable to learn.

  • The people culture is exceptional at IGO. Everyone is friendly and happy to help, it is rare to find someone who is unhappy at work. People are accepting and inclusive, even if you are an intern who is only there for 3 months. Also, no one thinks you are too far down the ladder to have a chat which is extremely refreshing.

  • Culture. Good social environment and issues raised are taken seriously and acted on quickly.

  • The wide range of experiences you are able to have in a short amount of time.

Cons

    • I cannot think of one bad thing about this company.

    • Honestly nothing I came across or can think of.

    • The food

    • Nothing that I can think of.

    • It gets hot out in the field!
