We have a vision for a bigger, bolder role for rail and we're looking for energetic, ambitious, and talented students who genuinely care about creating stronger connections, for a better New Zealand. It’s a pivotal time to join our organisation and we're searching for our next generation of influential and inspiring leaders to develop with us.
KiwiRail is a purpose-driven State-Owned Enterprise with a commercial mandate. We run our business efficiently and effectively while delivering significant economic benefits through taking trucks off the road, reducing carbon emissions and road maintenance costs, easing congestion in cities, and making roads safer.
We have graduate roles available across various business units; Rail Operations, Rolling Stock Asset Services (RSAS) and Capital Projects and Asset Development (CPAD), based in Auckland and Wellington.
What are we offering?
During the course Programme, you will:
RSAS: As a Graduate Engineer within Rolling Stock Asset Services (RSAS), you'll work with the team who manages the full life cycle of our rolling stock (locomotives, wagons, and passenger cars) including fleet planning, engineering, procurement, commissioning, maintenance, and asset management.
CPAD: As a Graduate Engineer within the Capital Projects and Asset Development (CPAD) team, you will be immersed into the lifecycle phases of some of our major projects. In Auckland, we have multiple programmes of work including Wiri to Quay Park, Papakura to Pukekohe and supporting parts of the City Rail Link Project and Rolling Stock Procurement. In the Lower North Island, we have the Wellington Metro Upgrade Programme and Project iReX (our new ferries and terminal infrastructure).
Rail Operations: As a Graduate Engineer within Rail Operations, you will be directly supporting our strong and diverse multi-discipline rail Engineering (rail-track, civil, structures, water, geotechnical, traction electrical, signals, control systems) to deliver professional services to a vast portfolio of rail infrastructure renewal and upgrade projects.
