About the Internship Program

At Laing O’Rourke, they’re committed to equipping their interns with the foundational knowledge and skills needed for success. As part of their comprehensive 12-week Internship Program, you’ll have the chance to work on a real project site during the summer. This will also allow you to experience working at Laing O’Rourke, get a sense of their culture and gain a better understanding of the job and future career pathway.

About the Planning & Project Controls Stream

A sample of the type of tasks you may complete as a Planning & Project Controls Intern include:

  • Planning
    • Involved in projects from inception to completion
    • Assisting with the creation of methods, timing, sequencing and resources required to build a construction project
    • Drive progress on projects through the influence of project leadership and delivery teams
    • Liaising with other people working on other disciplines on the same project to help build, update and mitigate programs
    • Providing input to the resource loading of programs to generate labour, plant and material/commodity forecasts
  • Project Controls
    • Communicating daily work plans and productivity targets
    • Managing labour productivity performance reports
    • Completing comparisons of budget (earned vs actual) to be utilised for forecasting

About you

To be eligible for the Internship Program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • At the time of application, hold Australian/ New Zealand citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Be in your second last year of university studies (penultimate year).
  • Be studying a relevant degree to the role advertised, Bachelor of Planning / Project Management / Commerce / Civil Engineering or related degree.
