Pros and cons of working at Mainfreight New Zealand

Pros

  • Every day is a new challenge and always something different. With freight, everything is ever-changing and constant problem solving which makes every day fun!

  • The team around us are all like family and we have each other's back, it is a pretty special company and they look after you! There are lots of awesome opportunities out there for everyone. Everyone has the 'Bleeding blue' feel in their day-to-day work.

  • The culture. I'm trusted with responsibility, I can make decisions and I'm encouraged to take ownership.

  • The people/the culture! It is incredible how a global company can still feel like a family and I think this is what makes it so special.

  • The people & culture. Family vibes & everyone's willing to help. The autonomy of the job.

Cons

    • The long hours can be tiring at times (but to be honest I don't know how I'd get it all done in less time).

    • Sometimes the long days (but it's give and take so not a big deal).

    • I'm nitpicking, sometimes the hours can be long, that's the nature of the work that we do, the customers need their freight, so we need to make that happen so the wider community have access to what they need.

    • The long days. 10-hour days can be rough. But you get used to them quickly.
