The Mainfreight Development Programme is currently looking for graduates who are ready to dive into the world of Supply Chain, hit the ground running and work hard as part of a close-knit team handling customer freight and dangerous goods.

An exciting opportunity has opened at our Chemcouriers Branch in Auckland to join their Outbound Team through the Mainfreight Development Programme in January 2024.
With a complex variety of dangerous goods moving through our network every day, there is always plenty to learn and many opportunities to expand our knowledge and skills. Working within the operation, youโre a key part of the crew. You've got your finger on the pulse of the depot and your eyes and ears open to what's happening. You work well unsupervised because you're driven and a work-proud kind of person with high standards. You always get the job done, safely and efficiently.
We are looking for a team member who:

Your responsibilities will include:
- Outbound shift 12pm โ 10pm / Monday โ Friday
- Working within a team to handle freight off pickup trucks and ensure it is efficiently and compliantly loaded onto linehaul units departing to destinations around NZ.
- Learning the fundamentals of our business and building relationships with our team.
- On the job and external training / licencing fully provided.
- 12-month time frame with the opportunity to take a new role thereafter within Chemcouriers, or the broader Mainfreight Group.

Maintaining existing accounts, finding new business
Looking for new customers, creating proposals and rates, escalated customer queries and complaints, customer reporting, look into customer accounts and making adjustments where necessary.
I really enjoy being an Account Manager and being on the road. I have a number of customers in a range of industries and have learnt so much. I like being able to be a trusted advisor and find solutions for my customers.

Cons
The long hours can be tiring at times (but to be honest I don't know how I'd get it all done in less time).
Sometimes the long days (but it's give and take so not a big deal).
I'm nitpicking, sometimes the hours can be long, that's the nature of the work that we do, the customers need their freight, so we need to make that happen so the wider community have access to what they need.
The long days. 10-hour days can be rough. But you get used to them quickly.
