I also manage the testing of the cable before we release the cable to be despatched to the customer. My typical day starts with the production meeting to capture any production issues and share any quality issues that require action. I also ensure all manufactured cables are tested accordingly and test results are saved for future retrieval. I also ensure production equipment, laboratory equipment and testing equipment are calibrated according to schedule. I also ensure relevant audits are conducted in production and within other departments to comply with our quality system. Documents related to quality are also managed within my team.
Quality is not all about ensuring the quality of the product, but ensuring the entire organization is operating in a manner that delivers quality processes. Quality is an output to the product, but it is an input to every single department of the organization.

What's your background?
I grew up in the Western part of Sydney in a suburb called Chester Hill.
The most important stage of my life is obtaining international exposure during university as we are living in a world of globalisation, and this aspect is important for professional development. The next important stage of my life is obtaining work experience to ensure I can learn from professionals and grow professionally during my time at the university.
I got where I am through a graduate program with Prysmian in 2012. Working at Prysmian allowed me to experience working abroad for 2 years. This is the most rewarding experience of my life as many other graduates from other organizations are unlikely to have been given the same opportunity. Working internationally grows you mentally, professionally and prepares you for any future challenges your career may take you. It is the diversity and cultural experiences that are inevitable in our current global business structure that I believe, is an important element to a successful career path and decision making.
Could someone with a different background do your job?
My role requires technical knowledge as well as production knowledge. If you have studied anything related to technology (maths, engineering, science etc), I believe this is the starting point to achieve to where I am. Characteristics required in my job are (but not limited to); willingness to learn, attention to detail, communication skills, people skills, influential skills and thinking outside the box. The business is dynamic and it is important that you are adaptable to change as well.
What's the coolest thing about your job?
I enjoy interacting with other departments as quality is involved in every single department of the organization.
Tasks I enjoy at work are ensuring production is utilizing tools quality has developed for them. The success of the usage of these tools is inspirational to me as I am contributing a value added process to the organization.
I feel that I am doing the right thing when our customers and accreditors are happy which is the ultimate output of Quality.
What are the limitations of your job?
In a management position, I bear the responsibility to ensure the final product is deemed suitable to the market. I do not work weekends, however, as a professional, I am committed to coming in during the weekends to get the work done. I also travel for work, and this sometimes does cross path with the weekends. My job is not physically demanding, however, I need to ensure physically demanding work are performed correctly by my team. Based on this, I am required to understand physically demanding procedures. The biggest limitation to my job is technically understanding the limitations of our 40+ production lines. It is a learning curve daily at work.
