Generous leave policies, can take 3 days cultural leave, I can work flexible hours between 7am-7pm,
Graduate, Canberra - 13 Sep 2024
Nothing free. Just having good leave policies, flexibility, WFH and HR is the perk.
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Sep 2024
Employee Assistance Program is a good resource.
APS6, Brisbane - 15 Aug 2024
Trips to Canberra and placement opportunities in Melbourne/Sydney or remote.
Graduate, Hobart - 13 Aug 2024
The cost of relocation was fully covered by my employer, and they also provided me with a household pantry one-off allowance. Flex time is also great as it offers like for like leave if I work more than my usual scheduled hours, eg. I work 2 hours extra on Monday, so I can leave 2 hours earlier on Friday.
Graduate in 2021, APS6 since April 2022, Canberra - 12 Aug 2024
Decent leave policies. Though I do take issue with them requiring us to use our own annual leave to facilitate Christmas shut down - I'd happily work these days and utilise my annual leave elsewhere.
former graduate. APS employee now, Adelaide - 12 Aug 2024
Fully paying for work trips including generous meals allowances, hotels, flights and more
Payment and reimbursements for necessary licences and checks for work
Relaxed penalties for poor performance (being given chances to improve before termination)
Graduate, Bunbury - 07 Aug 2024
Job security. moving expenses. 15% super, however, I think this needs to increase with the national minimum increase otherwise its value as a perk is diluted. WFH. working from around australia via online teams. job security.
APS6, Wollongong - 07 Aug 2024
No perks
APS5, Canberra - 07 Aug 2024
travel interstate
Graduate, Melbourne - 07 Aug 2024
This is the government, there are no perks lol. Even if they fly us somewhere for some bullshit in Canberra we can't even keep the frequent flyer points. And as I said earlier, we don't even have free teas and coffees in the break room.
We get generous super contributions compared to the private sector but that's because those weak private sector unions aren't asking for more. Super is a right, not a perk.
Graduate, Perth - 17 Jul 2024
None.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Jul 2024
Novated car leasing and super contributions via salary sacrifice (no salary sacrifice for HECS, mortgage etc). Employee Assistance Program for staff and their families.
Acting APS6 (Substantive APS5), Adelaide - 08 Jul 2024
Leave policies, respect for life commitments, allowing for very flexible working arrangements, etc - I'd tell anyone Services Australia is the place to work if you want work-life balance
Graduate, Canberra - 08 Jul 2024
Salary sacrificing for superannuation is good; I just wish government allowed to salary sacrifice rent/mortgage payments. Leave policies are very generous and the employee assistance program (and other discounts on memberships for things like gyms) is a good resource to have available.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Jul 2024
Leave and other benefits are probably the best perks. As well as flexible working hours.
APS5, Sydney - 05 Jul 2024
As part of the graduate program, they paid for me to move from Tasmania to Canberra where the position was. I would have really struggled to cover the relocation fees myself.
Completed Graduate Degree, Canberra - 04 Jul 2024
Leave policies. Reimbursements for eye wear single and multI focal. Paid leave for flu vaccinations.
When I relocated to Brisbane I received relocation allowances, if I had to move interstate there was financial help with plane tickets, moving household items and cars. Travel allowances.
Grad and experienced service officer, Toowoomba - 02 Jul 2024
Government is not necessarily notorious for perks... however, we do receive really great super (over 15%) and have good leave and flexible work policies. There is also excellent job security.
Graduate, Ballarat - 02 Jul 2024
There are holidays, sick days, maternity leave and annual leave.
Graduate, Canberra - 28 Jun 2024
