It's not my responsibility as it's up to government in power

They have separate waste bins. Virtual training means all is electronic, no paper.
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Sep 2024
There is broad acceptance of WFH arrangements which reduces carbon footprint by way of commuting, desk space, etc. Generally, most work is also digital and there is very little need to print hardcopies. Lights are motion sensor activated to save electricity.
Graduate in 2021, APS6 since April 2022, Canberra - 12 Aug 2024
At this time there are buildings which have been made to become more sustainable however there is not a huge push to promote it
Graduate, Bunbury - 07 Aug 2024
Paperless as much as possible
Graduate, Melbourne - 07 Aug 2024
I love this stuff, it's so funny. In truth, Services Australia has eliminated whole forests worth of paperwork over the years with pushing online and electronic services on (almost) all their forms. The new WFH provisions would be taking tonnes of carbon out of the atmosphere with workers commuting less. And that's made a real difference to the environment. However, as far as corporate messaging around sustainable initiatives it's always something insane and pointless like "as part of our commitment to reducing our carbon emissions Services Australia have purchased one (1) Toyota hybrid that will be available to hire for executives Tuesday to Thursday between 9am and 3pm." And I laugh and delete the emails.

They'll randomly do power off days although they also have desktops (granted, being slowly phased out as eventually everyone will be assigned a Surface Pro) set to turn on and off at certain times.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Jul 2024
This is probably less on the forefront of everyone's minds at SA currently. I know we have various different activities that are implemented to improve our sustainability but other things have shifted focus, especially things that effect public image.
Completed Graduate Degree, Canberra - 04 Jul 2024
Hard as a federal government agency when servicing diverse population.
Grad and experienced service officer, Toowoomba - 02 Jul 2024
There could be more work in this space. Some buildings/offices have composting and waste initiatives (e.g. coffee cup recycling etc.) but it is not applied universally across the country.
Graduate, Ballarat - 02 Jul 2024
Good but at times tokenistic.
Graduate, Canberra - 28 Jun 2024
I have no clue what efforts are actively being made
Graduate, Canberra - 28 Jun 2024
In our company's kitchen we have rubbish is delineated according to several categories, food, plastics, glass, cardboard. In addition, they have lights which are LED which adjust according to the ambient light available. I believe in the toilets they use re-cyclable water.
Graduate, Adelaide - 28 Jun 2024
Meetings are virtual, where it will save on transport. We have reduced reliance on paper copies and have digitised most information and forms.
Graduate, Melbourne - 27 Jun 2024
I don't feel that this is applicable to me, or my work. However, we do have recycling bins for coffee cups in the office.
A/g APS 6 (note: I'm a former graduate), Melbourne - 27 Jun 2024
There's no major sustainability effort I believe, that I know of that is, it's just the more basic sustainability goals
Graduate, Canberra - 27 Jun 2024
Quite good
Graduate, Adelaide - 27 Jun 2024
The new building has initiatives for sustainability, and we have moved into a new building with a high star rating.
Graduate, Adelaide - 27 Jun 2024
My company is committed to reasonable environmental preservation and sustainability efforts, several of which I interact with on a daily basis, e.g. 4 different types of office waste management to choose from.
APS5, Brisbane - 27 Jun 2024
Procurement works within principles of sustainability as per APS guidelines.
