    About the business

    Steel Windows and Doors is a small, NZ owned dynamic steel fabrication business specializing in the manufacture of custom steel joinery for residential & commercial projects. 3 year old business that has had a lot of growth and soon will be moving to a new location.

    About the role

    The role requires you to develop 3D models and produce 2D shop drawings for the fabrication and installation of steel windows and doors for high end projects. Travel will occasionally be required around the country as we have a diverse client base.

    The right candidate will be motivated to achieve outstanding results, a strong communicator and be able to work unassisted through a variety of residential projects.

    This role is fundamental to the ongoing success of our business and you will be joining a friendly, hardworking team who are passionate about delivering a quality product and service to our clients.

    Experience in the architecture sector is highly regarded and someone who understands architectural detailing. Work will be carried out on AutoCad and a 3D Software – preferably SolidWorks. Training can be provided.

    Our preference is to have a draftsperson in the office but we are open to working remotely for an exceptional candidate. Looking for someone full time however we are open to part time or contract based work.

    Key responsibilities of the role

    • You will be responsible for all shop and fabrication drawings for our business. These drawings are then used by our fabrication team to manufacture our steel windows and doors. They will also be used by builders and clients to sign off designs.
    • Printing domestic or commercial housing and building plans
    • Client Liaison
    • Site Visits & Measures
    • Project Management
    • Dealing with workshop staff

    Required skills

    • Proficient in the use of computer software including AutoCAD, Excel and Word.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Attention to detail with a focus on time management
    • Ability to pick things up quickly and anticipate clients' needs, also making sure queries are directed to the right person
    • Comfortable taking direction from management while also having the ability to work autonomously
    • The ability to work in a fast paced, team environment
    • Punctual and reliable, possessing a strong work ethic
    • Have a neat and tidy presentation
