The role of a Claims Consultant is a challenging and rewarding role within the Life Insurance Industry. It requires you to assess and adjudicate on claims made by individuals under their policies who are at their most vulnerable (sick or injured) efficiently, fairly, and honestly. As a part of the role, you will at times interact with a variety of customers, doctors, accountants, lawyers, rehabilitation experts with a goal to make decisions.

It is different every day. We recognise that when our customers come to us with a claim, theyโ€™re setting out in a direction they didnโ€™t expect. As the experts, our Claims team offers guidance and support and help them navigate something theyโ€™ve probably never experienced before. We make sure weโ€™re providing clarity and certainty every step of the way.

The day-to-day responsibilities vary in each rotation. From my experience, most of the week is spent working on a project that the team has prioritised, while also spending some time on a task on another project. I also try to find at least a few hours each week to prioritise my professional development as a way to upskill.

Pros and cons of working at TAL Australia

Pros

  • The culture in the company is good. Everyone is nice and willing to help each other.

  • Very flexible. 9-5 working hours expected in general.

  • The people at TAL are always supportive and ready to give great opportunities to Graduates.

  • The opportunity to work across multiple business functions.

  • Great facilities, modern and clean - free coffee, fruit and other snacks provided. Free Gym.

Cons

    • Getting access to required software and the processes for requesting them can feel daunting as they can take an extremely long time.

    • Because the culture at TAL is great, often there is less movement here...more competition for internal promotions.

    • The lack of experience and context around regulatory frameworks, terminology, and technical knowledge is an ongoing challenge and maybe di๏ฌƒcult to gauge what is going on without understanding everything.

    • Our company moved from 2 days in, 3 days remote setup to a 3 "team days" in a mandated system with 2 days remoteโ€

    • Strict Cyber Regulations/Policies
