We are now hiring a Graduate Environmental Consultant to join our strong, established team environmental specialists in Wellington. If you have recently completed/are on your way to completing your tertiary qualification with an Honours, PGDip, Masters, or PhD in Science, environmental engineering or similar, we want to hear from you!

The focus of this role will be working on a wide range of solutions for a variety of environmental projects including projects related to contaminated land, contaminant hydrogeology, landfills, infrastructure, and risk management (and more!).

Our graduate programme (GO2023) will help you transition into the workforce and support your career development pathway, with training and a cohort of other engineering and science graduates who will move through this programme with you!

About you: 

  • Honours, PGDip, Masters or PhD in Geology or Environmental Science
  • A willingness to learn and a drive to help our clients, communities and the environment
  • Excellent communication skills including a passion for engaging with co-workers, contractors, clients and other industry stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Pros

  • Everyone is very friendly and supportive. Great team and team leader. Very interesting and varied work.

  • There is no competition within the company, everyone tries to lift each other and provide help whenever possible.

  • Culture of the workplace, and the opportunity to work on a range of projects with many different people.

  • The support from my colleagues. The opportunity to get involved in interesting projects. The work-life balance.

  • The flexibility of working times and locations, and the people. I enjoy the freedom of choosing when I can work from home and the hours I do. It helps me balance my personal life and work schedule.

Cons

    • Lack of intermediate staff who you can go ask for help without worrying about how busy they are.

    • Everyone is very busy, it can be difficult to find time for non-project related work such as training, career development, discussions etc.

    • The variable workload

    • High stress when projects are due

    • Sometimes, project commitments conflicts and all of a sudden there is a big workload. I also get stressed when some projects have a tight deadline and budget and I have to really push myself to try to deliver within budget.
