We are looking for an acousticians/noise specialist to join our existing team in Auckland to grow our noise and vibration services. This is an exciting opportunity to start your acoustics career from within a highly experienced, dynamic, and motivated team environment. About the Role:

  • Our current workload is focused on environmental acoustics, it is technically challenging and varied.
  • We work across a range of sectors, including housing, transportation, defence, waste, and infrastructure.
  • The opportunity to work alongside experienced, market leading professionals, on some of New Zealand's most complex and challenging projects, including our geotech, civils, planning and environmental teams.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients across diverse sectors.
  • There is training to help you develop your technical, project management and business development skills.

About you:

  • You will have the opportunity to work autonomously in and out the office so your confidence, organisational skills and ability to multitask will be fully utilised.
  • As this role involves a certain amount of site work you will need to have an aptitude for using noise and vibration monitoring equipment (training will be provided).
  • Given the consultancy nature of our business, you will also need to demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Aptitude for computational modelling using noise software or similar packages.
  • A desire to develop your technical skills while helping clients solve complex problems.
  • A relevant engineering or science degree: BSc, BSc (honours), BE

Pros

  • Everyone is very friendly and supportive. Great team and team leader. Very interesting and varied work.

  • There is no competition within the company, everyone tries to lift each other and provide help whenever possible.

  • Culture of the workplace, and the opportunity to work on a range of projects with many different people.

  • The support from my colleagues. The opportunity to get involved in interesting projects. The work-life balance.

  • The flexibility of working times and locations, and the people. I enjoy the freedom of choosing when I can work from home and the hours I do. It helps me balance my personal life and work schedule.

Cons

    • Lack of intermediate staff who you can go ask for help without worrying about how busy they are.

    • Everyone is very busy, it can be difficult to find time for non-project related work such as training, career development, discussions etc.

    • The variable workload

    • High stress when projects are due

    • Sometimes, project commitments conflicts and all of a sudden there is a big workload. I also get stressed when some projects have a tight deadline and budget and I have to really push myself to try to deliver within budget.
