Mō tō mātou āhuatanga | Who we are

Tonkin + Taylor is New Zealand's leading engineering and environmental consultancy, renowned for our technical excellence in solving complex challenges. We are proudly a New Zealand, employee-owned company and our collective mission is to create and sustain a better world.

Kei te hiahia mātou ki ōu | We want your skills

We currently have a great opportunity for a graduate consultant to join our strong, established team of environmental specialists. Based in Wellington, you'll learn from some of the most experienced specialists in the industry and be supported by a team of experienced environmental scientists and engineers. You'll also have opportunities to work closely with a range of other professionals: planners, ecologists, geotechnical and civil engineers.

This is a varied role but will include a focus on delivering solutions to a wide range of environmental projects including environmental sampling, water quality assessments, odour assessments and environmental management (and more!). For the first 12 to 24 months you will be working on environmental management of landfills, which gives the opportunity for:

  • Collating and assessing environmental data (water quality, leachate, gas concentration, and weather)
  • Compiling environmental data for quarterly and annual reporting to the regulator.
  • Collecting macroinvertebrate samples annually and reporting
  • Assessing and reporting on ground gas surveys.
  • Assessing waste disposal applications against landfill acceptance criteria
  • Attending community liaison meetings
  • Conducting odour surveys/assessments
  • Coordinating and managing monitoring equipment

Kei te whakapono mātou ki tō whanaketanga | We want to develop you

Working at T+T provides a rich learning environment for individuals to grow and develop every day. You're in the driver's seat when it comes to your learning, and there are heaps of opportunities to tap into a wealth of knowledge, expertise and formal development opportunities.

You'll work directly with clients to solve their problems. With support from senior staff, you'll carry out field work, analyse and write reports.  You'll also have the opportunity to be involved in staff development, team operations and business development if you would like. We won't put you in a box - we will aim to develop you to do the work you are interested in.

We're really open to different skillsets so if you are interested in a change of direction from what you're doing now, we'd love to see your application.
