Formal training has mainly focused on the "soft" skills, i.e., communicating with others, being a leader, presenting to others etc. These courses have helped me in my development as a professional, and I've derived a lot of value from them. I do wish that there is more training that focusses on the development of technical skills. This type of training seems to be lacking.

A number of courses, Personal efficiency, writing, self-leadership and presentation skills. Numerous internal meetings and webinars that discuss a variety of topics related to the sector and technical area.

Get put on lots of different development courses. Some are of better value than others, they're great for ticking off Continuous Professional Development hours.

The best training would definitely have to be the hydro power technology course up in Hamilton which runs over two weeks. Have also had a huge number of day courses, ongoing courses etc. which have been fantastic.

The breadth and depth of training in the graduate program has undoubtably accelerated my professional development.

There have been plenty of opportunities for development within the company, both in the graduate programme and non-graduate programme related training. I believe each team have a budget for training and development and they typically max this out each year to develop their engineers as best as they can.
