Your role

As an intern at Urbis, you won't be a passive observer – you'll actively contribute to complex and meaningful projects that shape the urban landscape. Working with the accomplished team at Urbis, you'll gain invaluable insights and make a tangible impact on real-world initiatives. The student roles provide the flexibility of working 2 - 4 days per week, allowing you to integrate your internship with your studies seamlessly.

The Urbis Engagement team comprises skilled professionals facilitating meaningful dialogue between project stakeholders, communities, and decision-makers across Australia. They offer various services including stakeholder engagement, community consultation, communication strategy development, and conflict resolution. Their work ensures all voices are heard and considered throughout the planning and development process. With a deep understanding of social dynamics and community sentiments, the team assists clients in navigating complex issues, building consensus, and fostering positive relationships with communities.

As an intern in their Stakeholder Engagement team, you will:

  • Support the team in providing specialist advice to their clients on strategic engagement, stakeholder management and community consultation, to support strategic and statutory planning, development and infrastructure projects
  • Contribute to the creation of persuasive and captivating communication materials, including social media campaigns, newsletters, letters, and reports, to effectively engage and inspire diverse audiences
  • Gain experience in a supported environment to present to clients, community members and other stakeholders. This could include organising and helping to facilitate focus groups and workshops, collaborative design labs and other activities that promote the involvement of people in shaping the future of their cities

The year-long Student Internship Program, running from February to December 2025, will enable you to graduate with the distinct advantage of industry experience over your peers

  • This program will be suitable for those who will be undertaking tertiary studies in a relevant field in 2025
  • Passionate, hardworking and a great fit for the spirited, collaborative culture at Urbis
  • Can communicate with confidence and in a responsive manner, both written and verbally
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Proven skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Please Note: you must have valid working rights in Australia and be studying throughout the internship to be eligible for the program.
