Zack

Project Officer in Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) at Victorian Government

Bachelor of Science (Criminology and Psychology)

My grandmother worked for the Department of Justice and I noticed how respected she was by the community. I’m glad I am here continuing that legacy.

Zack is a Yorta Yorta/Dja Dja Wurrung man who is following in the footsteps of his family by starting a career in the public sector. During his graduate year, he had the opportunity to work at the Commission for Children and Young People on issues faced by children in out-of-home care.

“I plan to stay and work with the Victorian government in Aboriginal justice because I feel dedicated to that specific area. I also hope to be in a manager role within 5 years.”

Zack applied through our Aboriginal pathway and was pleasantly surprised by the level of support he received.

“My anxiety about the recruitment process was alleviated when I spoke to the people who run the Aboriginal pathway. I’m glad the process was more about who I am as a person and the capacity I have, rather than who I am on a piece of paper.”
