He angitūtanga /The opportunity :

Our whānau at some stage of their life will depend on the use of clinical equipment, anything from a wheelchair through to a dialysis unit. Haumanu Kaipūkaha (Clinical engineers) plays a pivotal role in making sure this equipment is kept in good working order or repairing it if it breaks.

This is a unique opportunity to learn how to be part of the team that helps to ensure our equipment is kept in tip-top shape so our whānau can receive the care they need.

Te āhua o Te Tūrunga/The nature of the position:

  • You will be part of a culturally diverse team working from a workshop at either North Shore Hospital or Waitakere Hospital to service equipment both in hospitals and in community clinics.
  • You will receive friendly supervision, support and training both in-house and from suppliers to bring your skills up to the required level.
  • You will be sponsored to qualify as an Electrical Service Technician with the NZ Electrical Workers Registration Board (if not already registered).

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Whēako /Essential skills/experiences for the role:

  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Experience with working with electrical and/or electronic componentry
  • Qualification in the electrical trade and/or instrumentation trade or biomedical, electrical or electronic engineering
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn
