What can I expect from the programme

Our Graduate programme will give you an experience like no other and an opportunity to build and advance your career. You will gain exposure to working in Technology with the opportunity to work with a diverse range of people right across our organisation. We are offering a permanent graduate position on a tailored programme which has been designed with future leaders in mind.

You’ll start with us as a permanent employee in February 2025. Beginning with a 2-week immersive orientation, you will grow your understanding of Westpac NZ alongside graduates from across our business before getting stuck into your new role.  

Throughout the program

We’ll provide loads of learning and support to help you make the most of the experience with sessions that accelerate both your personal and professional career development.  

The programme is packed full of different roles, teams and project experiences, and you’ll complete two rotations during the programme to help you learn about different parts of your business area.

• Rotations could include areas of cyber security, application development, service management, software engineering, data engineering and core infrastructure.
• Build and design software, applications, platforms, and networks, and see your contributions released into production and used by our customers.
• Learn more about cloud capability, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, engineering, dev ops and automation.
• Improve your programming language fluency by working directly with experts. Apply processes and methods to analyse and solve business problems.

Your mentor will provide coaching to help you take charge of your development and navigate your career at Westpac.  

Day to day you can expect

• To contribute from Day One and have an impact on our business.
• Plenty of opportunities to get involved in grad life where you can build your networks and friendships with those you work with, including business leaders.
• Give back to our communities through volunteering and sustainability initiatives.
• Lead a project to solve a real business problem including presenting to key stakeholders.

What happens at the end

At the end of your programme, we will also support your transition to your next role with Westpac.

To be eligible for our graduate programme you must be in your final year of study of a university degree or have graduated in the last 12 months; You also need to be a New Zealand or Australian Citizen or a New Zealand Resident when you apply. 

We are looking to fill our program with original thinkers and innovators from all areas of study.
