Daniel Cho

I am currently supporting the decarbonisation of New Zealand’s largest waste collection fleet.

What's your job about?

My main role is to design and build electric trucks and ensure they are kept on the road in a safe way. A typical day would start off with some with research about better, and more efficient methods and technologies that could be implemented into our electric trucks.
The project I am currently working on looks at the truck idling and rev up when hydraulics are being used as the mechanical side loader arms. Another project we are busy with is implementing MSD (Manual service disconnect) into older EV trucks. By implementing this change, it will allow the team to easily and safely disconnect, the high voltage circuit without having to use the high voltage suits that makes you look like an astronaut or a member of a bomb squad.

What does WM New Zealand do and what division do you work in?

WM New Zealand is Aotearoa’s leading materials recovery, recycling, and waste management provider. I am currently supporting the decarbonisation of New Zealand’s largest waste collection fleet.
