Support the Geochemistry Lead and wider Mine Environment, Social & Geochemistry team as a Geochemist, conducting geochemistry related studies for mining applications that support our mine closure, engineering, waste, water and environment teams.

What you’ll do:

Your role will be one of client centricity and expertise. Your professional investment will drive success in our business and promote a strong working culture within our national team. 

Throughout your journey you will receive training that will allow you to:

  • Support Senior/Principal Geochemists and Project Managers to scope and deliver high quality geochemical assessments and reports
  • Undertake geochemical characterisation assessments for mine materials (e.g., waste rock and tailings) using the latest analytical software and tools
  • Ascertain real time experience by visiting client sites, undertaking inspections, supervise sub-contractors (drilling, excavations).
  • Confidently collate, assess, and interpret technical data and prepare technical reports
  • Apply chemical and geological knowledge across a diverse range of exciting projects and disciplines.
  • Use technical data in conjunction with broader site context to make informed decisions and recommendations in relation to waste management.
  • Collaborate with other teams within WSP to deliver integrated and multi-disciplinary projects to our clients.

About you:

  • Have (or studying towards) a Bachelor in Geology or Chemistry. Final year students will be considered on the proviso you can commit to at least 2 days per week
  • Have a keen eye for detail, showcasing strong analytical skills and high level of report writing and communication.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Can showcase a genuine interest in our industry
