I have read over the career framework for going forward and I think it sounds very reasonable, also PFX came as no surprise to me as we should all have goals we want to work for. I use to work in retail where we got ranked every single day for our performance so I find ranking system motivating and a good framework .

Very clear guidelines on what it takes to progress to different opportunities.

Promotion is partly on my skills but a large emphasis is placed on the business need for a more senior role which feels far and few between.

There are promotion opportunities however, the time frame differs from team to team. There is now a framework in place which makes it really clear what is expected in each role and how to progress in your current role.

Xero has just released a new career/performance framework that clearly lays out what is expected at each level, and rewards high performers. We do goal setting and are evaluated on how well we are meeting our goals. Many Graduates get to Senior Engineer by their fourth year.

There seems to be a lot of talk of progression from being a grad, and a clear advance for next year, and what roles we can get into one year from now, or two years from now.

Progression seems structured and there seems to be plenty of opportunity to move upward depending on your goals.

Nothing in the first year which is fair enough, after grad year I think there's two chances a year for promotion and salary increases which seems fair enough.

A bit unclear on how this works right now.

There is clear progression up the ranks at the company and clear guides of what I need to do to reach them.

Growthing is relative but there is some favouritism involved in terms of promotional opportunities. Also there is a lower band (relative to the market) jump in pay for moving position (pretty common in the industry unfortunately).

In my area there is no set way of being promoted, there is a lot of work being done around this so I'm hoping by the time I am ready to move up there will be a clearer way to do so. I am confident about moving out of my grad role though.
