Aki Liyanage studied Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) (Hons) at the University of Auckland and is now a structural engineer in the Structural team of Beca.
Designing buildings and leaving a legacy in a city gives me satisfaction in my role. It’s such a great feeling to complete a project and move on to the next challenge.
It’s fun to be working in the environment and sustainability field, especially in the transport sector, as this is an industry where we can make a real difference in regards to New Zealand’s carbon emissions.
I am the investment owner for several local transformer and switchgear replacements, so I need to confirm some scopes of works and iron out some design details before requesting for funds to be released.
I love being surrounded by such an enthusiastic team who are motivated to make change in the transport system, and this inspires me every day to keep advocating for change.
