The coolest thing about my job is the autonomy I have. Even as an intern I have control over my daily schedule. I can choose if I’m working at the office or from home. I can choose what tasks I prioritise and control the flow of my work.

I think anything is possible! I also believe if you want something bad enough, and put your mind to it, you can achieve anything.

Don’t be afraid of a challenge, take it as an opportunity to grow. If you make a mistake, it is not the end of the world. Acknowledge and learn from it to improve yourself for the future.

Be yourself and be true to yourself.

One of the things that I believed helped shape my pathway was my journey with sports. Having grown up fully immersed in sports, particularly rugby, I was able to translate a lot of the lessons learnt from the field to the classroom and eventually the workplace.

I found that the transport company I was working at was very interesting because while I was researching and collecting data, there was some interesting data about how transport works and new ways to deal with transport in general.

One of the most interesting and empowering parts of my work is being encouraged to apply a Te Ao Māori lens to any aspect of my work – my culture is a core part of my identity and I’m valued for that part of me – meaning I am able to bring my most authentic self to work.

My specialization is cyber defense, I enjoy the challenge of learning about a new business and implementing controls to combat hackers.
