8.1 rating for Management, based on 22 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
My manager is easily accessible for informal conversation and very experienced so provides great mentoring. we have a scheduled catch up for 30 mins every fortnight.

Good, i have support in the graduate program with a supervisor and immediate supervisors in my department. i proactively ask for feedback and i am able to organise time with them or other advisors that will sit and review my work with me.

I have been satisfied with the managers i have been exposed to within the program. they have been open individuals and communication about my personal goals have been discussed in detail.

It is really dependent on the manager, some managers are great at communicating but some are not. there are no 360 degree reviews.

From my personal experience, my managers have been very approachable and really want you to learn and grow.

My immediate managers are very good. higher level managers not as much.

My line managers / direct supervisors have been great. i have worked directly alongside them most days. the contact with higher level management has been less satisfying.

Approachable managers

Managers are generally quite accessible, when they're not busy. they enjoy stopping to have a chat if you want to as well. generally they make good mentors as they've progressed higher up because they're good people leaders. the performance feedback however, while it exists, doesn't seem to really achieve what it is designed to do. praise and recognition also doesn't seem to occur as regularly as it could.

Doors are always open great at mentoring - both formally and informally (standard managers take an active role in your development, and formal mentoring sessions are set up with both a member of the executive board, and a senior leader) success is frequently celebrated with morning teas and lunches etc

All senior executive are very open to discussion. intermediate level managers are also very good and happy to share advice

More senior managers are very busy and as a result are not always accessible. luckily, the graduate program provides exposure to these individuals, but for many other staff they don't have much interaction.

Management are pretty busy but my supervisor is very accessible.

On an individual basis, some managers score 10/10 and some score poorly. some managers have excellent communication skills and are able to motivate their employees really well. some managers are more "old-school", engineers who were good at their job so now they are managers. poor comminucation skills, generally awkward, great people but just not great managers.
