Seeing as the company is reasonably large and the campus contains people of all sorts of scientific disciplines, there appears to be a significant opportunity to move between facilities and then move up the ladder within those if desired. There is also lots of support for higher education which will be essential for career progression.

Very transparent with information and finances

Good workplace culture in terms of allowing healthy work-life balance. Expectations are realistic and not too much pressure is applied. The Graduate Program has been good for having a cohort to socialize with. Lots of green space on site to spend time in and play lunchtime sports.

Of the 10 graduates hired, there are 5 men and 5 women. We represent a variety of religions and some of us are LGBTQIA+ However, there are still apparent inequalities for women, especially with maternity leave entitlements and the like. ANSTO is working very hard on this, and discussions about it are openly being had. For the LGBTQIA+ community, ANSTO is working to try to create a better and more inclusive environment (there is a club and an Ally network), although it does feel that this is secondary to the gender issue.

Commercialise research, from industry engagement, finding appropriate partners as well as implementing projects with commercial outcomes. Day to day this looks like a lot of market research to back up potential opportunities, attending industry events to promote ANSTO capabilities as well as liaising with potential clients for the development of new business opportunities.

I have been satisfied with the managers I have been exposed to within the program. They have been open individuals and communication about my personal goals has been discussed in detail.

Great location. Offices vary - some are new and others are old buildings with limited facilities (could use some refurbishment). The dress code depends on division. Some have uniform shirts. Unless public-facing, generally very relaxed.

1. Submission of resume, qualifications, GPA, referees and a few questions to answer related to the work. 2. Recorded answers to questions posed on Vieple (online interviewing platform) 3. Online interviews are composed of a one-on-one with someone in my field, and then a group interview process. All of this was done online because I was living interstate and COVID-19.

The pay is great and the Super is excellent.

There is a variety of formal training I have received that is mostly ANSTO-process or safety-related. The most important training I receive is on the job in the lab where experienced chemists pass on their methods in synthesis to me.

Very flexible - the ability to accrue time in lieu during busy periods is a luxury that I appreciate greatly.

In our tea room, we have a landfill bin, a recycling bin, and a cardboard bin. It is a bit unclear why cardboard isn't normal recycling. We do not have a green waste bin or soft plastic waste bin.
